The Tiger Who Eats Differently
Description
Arlo wanted to create a book that would help children and families living with ARFID feel seen, understood, and less alone.
Meet Skip, a friendly tiger who loves adventures, wears his favourite yellow sunglasses, and never goes anywhere without his trusty rucksack full of safe foods. Skip knows exactly which foods feel safe for him, but explaining that to others isn't always easy.
When an unexpected moment encourages Skip to open up, he begins to share what life is like with ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder). As he talks about the foods he can eat, the foods he can't, and the feelings that come with being different, Skip discovers that understanding starts with a conversation.
Inspired by his own lived experience of ARFID, this story was entirely Arlo’s vision. Through his mum’s work as an ARFID advocate, alongside ARFID Life UK, he wanted to create a story that helps children feel seen, understood, and reassured that they are not alone, and that being different is something to be proud of.
The Tiger Who Eats Differently is a heartfelt story about friendship, courage, and finding the confidence to talk about the things that make us unique.
