Description

For families who might sometimes feel that they are drowning in wave after wave of problems, this book could be a lifeline. Wonderful, readable and wonderfully inspiring.’ Sir Stephen Fry

‘This book is for the parent lying awake at 3am, Googling traits and therapies and trying to hold it all together. It’s for the families who feel like they’ve been dropped into a different world without a map. It’s not a guidebook. It’s not a list of tips and tricks. It’s a story. Our story. And maybe, in some small way, it’s yours too.’

James Hunt is the founder of the Stories About Autism community, where hundreds of thousands of people follow his life as a father raising two autistic, non-speaking sons. In Love Needs No Words, he shares what it’s really like to navigate the meltdowns, the sleepless nights and the unexpected challenges – as well as the breakthroughs, the joy and the moments of connection.

This honest memoir about autism parenting from a dad’s perspective offers comfort, solidarity and hope. Written with warmth and understanding, it will help caregivers see that, while life might look different from how they imagined, it can still be filled with growth and love.

Most heart warming read

Absolutely love this book the meaning and the love behind it shines through every page. A very relatable read and almost as if my thoughts where falling out onto the page infront of me. Weather your at the beginning or far into a life with diagnosis this is the book for you! It has taught me more patience and to pull joy out of moments you might not even notice. 10/10 recommend. What a story! And well done to Jude and Tommy on all your accomplishments!!

A relatable and joyful read that shines a light on the struggles we face and the hope we can have

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It provided both insight and comfort to me as a father to an autistic non verbal child.
I particularly found the latter chapters on transitions in to adulthood and being an advocate very interesting and gave me new things that I have yet to consider.
The book also offers a direct look in to the lives of a family and the challenges faced that I hope those outside of our circle can read and appreciate.
Overall, I found it very relatable and a joy to read x
Thank you for writing it.

As a dad of two boys

As a dad of two boys, I felt an immediate connection to James’s story. Many of the emotions he shares—the late-night worries about whether you’re making the right decisions, the hope you hold onto for your children, the moments of self-doubt, and the growth that comes from learning alongside them—felt deeply familiar. His story captures that constant pull to do your very best as a parent, even when the path ahead isn’t clear. It reads like a deeply personal and honest account of parenthood, and a powerful reminder that every family’s journey is different, yet filled with experiences and emotions that resonate across all kinds of families.

The bear hug my soul needed ❤️

The bear hug my soul needed ❤️

By sharing his story, James so beautifully conveys how the greatest and often rarest form of support is simply being truly seen.

When I first started following his page @storiesaboutautism I was hoping to find tips that could help my boys. I quickly realized the purpose of what he has built far extends that. His experiences don't need to offer solutions in order to help heal one of the most difficult parts of this journey; the loneliness of feeling misunderstood.

If your family has been touched by autism, or you love one who has, you won't regret this read 🙏

This book!

I've had the book for a few weeks but I couldn't bring myself to start reading it! I knew it would be upsetting. I have followed James and his beautiful story for a while, being interested because I have an 8year old Grandson who has non verbal Autism.
